Motorola Announces Replacement for PPT8800
Having reached "end of life" status, the Motorola Symbol PPT8800, a longtime stalwart of the barcode scanner and mobile computing industry, is being replaced by the MC55, the state of the science the industry now has to offer.
The PPT 8800 had combined superior data capture and wireless communications in a rugged handheld computer that was the smallest and lightest device in its class. The PPT 8800 put powerful real-time information right in the pocket of the mobile worker, and was available with a wide range of software peripherals accessories and services.
Now, the bar has been raised as Motorola introduces the MC55 Enterprise Data Assistant (EDA), which brings a new level of flexibility, functionality and rugged design to size-optimized mobile devices, providing mobile workers with the power to streamline business processes, increase productivity and improve customer service. As the smallest and lightest Motorola rugged EDA with a 3.5-inch display, the MC55 packs the power of a cell phone, two-way radio, walkie-talkie, VoIP phone, bar code scanner, digital camera and mobile computer - all into a single device. Designed to meet mobile worker, business application and IT requirements, this easy-to-use and easy-to-carry business-class device offers true consumer styling as well as enterprise manageability, security and scalability.
Now retailers, hospitals, restaurants, event managers, and more, can provide workers with the sophisticated yet cost-effective mobile voice and data services required to truly achieve maximum productivity, reduce response times and improve service levels.
IRS Section 179 is here to help in 2009!
IRS Code Section 179 allows businesses to deduct the full cost of a specified amount of property purchases (including Mobile Computing and Barcode Scanning products and software) in that same year of acquisition!
This is the same as taking a 100% depreciation deduction in year one.
And now, the Economic Stimulus Act of 2008 has increased the specified amount of qualifying property purchases that a business can expense immediately from 128,000 to $250,000!
